How to Pair JBN to make Delicious Meals

It’s natural to switch to a healthy, alcohol-free alternative. People are recognizing how drinking can affect their health, and as such are switching over to drinks without alcohol, made from natural ingredients and free from harmful preservatives and sugars. Finding the balance between the food and our non-alcoholic beverages is key to enjoying the lifestyle that comes with healthier living. JBN goes further than simply great taste- it’s the perfect complement to your favourite meals, and understanding how to pair it will open your eyes to the endless possibilities for deliciously elegant meals. So if you’re unsure how to incorporate JBN into your everyday meal rotations, allow us to give you some ideas to start with. For starters, don’t be afraid to experiment with your own homemade JBN cocktails! Try adding lemon or lime juice, cinnamon, mint or even coconut water for a fresher, sweet taste, or ginger, vinegar, or thyme for a deeper, salty taste. Make the experience your own and don’t be afraid to try new things! These drinks exist as an alternative to drinking alcohol, and as such offer the same flavour-profiling experience that any wine could offer. Take the time to look up some favourite recipes online, and again, keep in mind what kind of foods will be prepared with the meal as you’ll want to create a rounded profile wherever possible. If you’re just starting out on your wine-alternative journey, try to focus on pairing the drink with the six flavouur profiles: acidity, sweetness, bitterness, fruitiness, minerality, and spiciness. For our drinks, the red wine will be more bitter while the white and rosé will be more acidic. When pairing flavours, there are two main types of wine pairings: complementary and contrasting. It’s important to focus on what is the strongest flavour in the dish- this doesn’t mean what the actual meat/other food tastes like, but rather the sauce that is used to season it. For sweeter sauces you can use a sweeter mocktail to complement it, or you can contrast it by choosing a bitter, spicier flavour profile. Again, don’t be afraid to experiment, and try to learn those six flavour profiles to decide for yourself what pairs well! Go wow your friends with these fun flavour combinations, or spice up your own personal dinners with your added drink pairing knowledge! We see healthy, great-tasting meals in your future!
